Crimson is a fill
Two point zero five to one as ink; six point five seven behind parchment. The same colour, used two ways, on either side of the line.
Mahogany and aged oak, parchment ink, polished brass on everything that can be touched, and crimson kept for the seal. Three serifs, each with one job, and ornament spent on one thing per view rather than on everything at once.
Volume I — Proclamation
Crimson is a fill and never ink. On this mahogany ground it measures 2.05 to one, which is to say it is invisible: as a line of text, as a border, as an icon, it simply does not arrive. Set it behind parchment instead and it measures 6.57 and becomes the most confident colour on the page — the wax seal below is the same red that would have failed as a sentence.
The source specification never notices, because every use it lists happens already to be a fill. The failure waits for the first person who reaches for it as a colour for a heading.
Two point zero five to one as ink; six point five seven behind parchment. The same colour, used two ways, on either side of the line.
Secondary text measures 5.40 on the canvas and 5.00 on the oak surface, but 3.74 on the worn-leather tertiary — a pair of tokens that invite each other and should not meet.
Parchment on mahogany is 13.48, not the 8.5 the specification targets. That surplus is spent here on the small engraved labels, which are the type most at risk.
