Measure every secondary colour

The spec's own muted grey is 4.18 to one on this canvas and fails, while the accent it hedged on is 5.58 and passes at any size. Worse, the card tone is lighter than the page, so a grey that just scrapes by outside a card fails inside one.

Depth without shadows

A two-pixel duplicate of the headline in the border colour, sitting behind it. Oversized muted type behind bright type. A four-pixel accent rule. No shadow is used anywhere on the page.

The underline is the button

No fill, no pill, no radius. The primary action is accent text over a two-pixel rule that stretches on hover and presses a pixel down on click.

Is this a mock-up or the real thing?
A specimen, hand-built to the preset's specification so the style can be seen whole rather than as a thumbnail. The preset itself is a set of WordPress Theme Settings; a generated site inherits the palette, the type scale and the sharp corners. The layered headline, the underline buttons and the mono label system are still being folded into the preset and are not all emitted automatically yet.
Why is the secondary grey not the one in the specification?
Because that grey measures 4.18 to one against this canvas and fails AA, despite the specification stating 5.3. The value here is #8C8C8C at 5.89. In the same breath the specification undersells the vermillion as large-text only, when it is 5.58 and safe at any size — so one figure was optimistic and the other pessimistic.
Why is nothing rounded?
Because a radius softens the join between a letterform and the shape containing it, and this style has nothing else to lean on. Remove the sharp edge and the page reads as an ordinary dark theme with large headings.
