// Design preset
Glow is not
contrast
A void background so neon illuminates rather than colours, chamfered corners instead of
rounded ones, scanlines over everything, and a static RGB split that needs no animation to
read as a failing signal.

// What the preset decides
Three rules
01
The void on every fill
The ink on the primary neon is 1.02 to one — identical luminance, so the text is simply
not there. A neon element carries the background colour instead, at 14.73.
02
Glow is not contrast
A halo reads as brightness to the eye and as nothing to a contrast checker. Every glow
here sits on a pairing that already passes without it.
03
The static state is the style
The chamfer and the colour split carry the whole register with zero frames of animation,
so reduced motion removes nothing. Nothing on this page flickers on its own.

6.30:1Void on #FF00FF
11.16:1Void on #00D4FF
The same three fills carrying the page's
light ink would measure 1.02, 2.38 and 1.34. The colours are not the problem — the instinct that a
glowing surface must be a dark one is.

Frequently asked
Is this a mock-up or the real thing?
A specimen, hand-built to the preset's specification so the style can be seen whole
rather than as a thumbnail. The preset itself is a set of WordPress Theme Settings; a
generated site inherits the palette, the monospace stacks and the zero radius. The chamfered
clip-paths, the scanline layer and the colour split are still being folded into the preset
and are not all emitted automatically yet.
Why does nothing glitch?
Because a flicker is exactly what reduced motion exists to suppress, and a style that
only works while animating does not work. The split is drawn statically, so the effect is
present in a screenshot, in print, and for a visitor who has asked for stillness.
Why is the secondary grey not the one in the specification?
Because that grey measures 4.09 to one on the void, 3.85 on a card and 3.46 on the
chrome — it fails on every surface the specification itself defines. The value here is
#9AA3B2 at 7.76.
