Design preset
The neon is the light, not the paint
A purple-black void, a grid receding to a horizon, and two colours bright enough that they
illuminate what they touch. Radius zero everywhere, and borders with enough width to read as
tubes rather than as dividers.

// What the preset decides
Three rules
01
The void on every neon
White on the cyan is one and a quarter to one — the two colours are nearly the same
luminance. The background colour on it is sixteen.
02
Borders have width
A neon tube is a physical object with a diameter. A one-pixel line in the same colour is a
divider pretending to be one, and the difference is immediately visible.
03
The black is purple
Nine, zero, twenty. A neutral black makes the neon read as paint on a surface; the purple
tint makes it read as light in a space.

The same three fills carrying white
would measure 3.14, 1.25 and 2.14. The colours are not the problem — the instinct that a glowing
surface must be a dark one is.

Frequently asked
Is this a mock-up or the real thing?
A specimen, hand-built to the preset's specification so the style can be seen whole
rather than as a thumbnail. The preset itself is a set of WordPress Theme Settings, and a
generated site carries the void, the two neons, Orbitron over Share Tech Mono, the zero
radius and the tube-width borders. The receding grid, the gradient sun and the glass panels
are markup, so a section that wants them still asks for them.
Why is the button text dark?
Because white on the cyan measures one and a quarter to one — the two are nearly the
same luminance, so the label is simply not there. The void colour on it is sixteen. A neon
surface feels dark because it is saturated, and it is not.
Why is nothing rounded?
Because the whole visual language is angular — a grid, a horizon, a tube. One rounded
corner and the page stops being a space and becomes a card layout with bright colours.
